Shirley A. Woodruff, 74, Oblong, IL passed away on Monday June 6, 2016 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN.
Shirley was born in Sullivan, IL on July 11, 1941. She was the daughter of Lloyd Dwight South and Ila Marie (Oakley) South. On November 21, 1962 she married Karl Eugene Woodruff who preceded her in death on August 21, 2004.
Shirley worked for the Embarras River Basin Agency as a driver for meals on wheels. She also was a custodian for many years at the Lawrenceville Elks. She attended Tice Elementary School and Ft. Myers Sr. High in Ft. Myers, FL. She attended the First Christian Church in Oblong and was a member of the Road Runners of Oblong. Shirley was an avid Elvis Fan, she also enjoyed watching hummingbirds and flower gardening. Shirley especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Shirley is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Karol and Lewis Igou, Baxley, GA; six grandchildren Matthew Woodruff and Samantha Tilford, Mattoon, IL; Kyle and Shelby Farlow, Urbana, IL; Ashley Woodruff and Casey Beck, Mattoon, IL; Stephen and Ashley Woodruff, Savoy, IL; Kaleb and Brittany Farlow, Oblong, IL; and Lukas Newbold, Oblong, IL; One sister Sharon Harrison, Ft. Myers, FL; daughter-in-law Kristy Woodruff, Mattoon, IL; several nieces and nephews and her beloved four legged companion “Ramey”.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, husband, a son Earnest Wayne Woodruff, one brother Stephen South and one sister Diane McClendon.
